NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, named after the agency’s first chief astronomer and the “mother of the Hubble Space Telescope,” landed at Kennedy Space Center on June 21, 2026, aboard the Pegasus barge. After offloading, the telescope is being transported to the Payload Hazardous Servicing Facility where it will undergo final processing before the scheduled launch, targeted for no earlier than Sunday, Aug. 30, 2026.
The Roman Space Telescope will provide a field of view more than 100 times that of Hubble, enabling studies of up to a billion galaxies, direct imaging of exoplanets and planet‑forming disks, and investigations into dark energy, exoplanets, and infrared astrophysics.
